“KOKESHI PLAYTIME”

Have fun with Japanese wooden dolls

Kokeshi are traditional Japanese dolls created in the 20th century for the tourist market in Japan and have become highly sought after collectible items. This one to three day class is designed especially for quilters who have a stash of oriental fabrics, old kimono silks or who are addicted like me to all things Japanese.

The playtime pattern includes 12 different appliqué or embroidery patterns so students can plan to make one, some or all of these delightful dolls. Learn how to set single images for framing as a print and discover ways to use the patterns for wall quilts through to bed quilts for your favourite doll fan. Both needle turn stitching and machine appliqué techniques will be offered and students choose what methods they’d like to incorporate.

Each student is provided with one pattern and the book is available for students to purchase the full set if they so wish.
